Overleg op hoog niveau over arbeidswetgeving is aftrap van Zweeds Voorzitterschap (en)
On the evening of Thursday 4 June, Minister for Employment Sven Otto Littorin opened the Swedish Presidency of the EU when he welcomed the participants at the high-level Meeting of Directors-General for Industrial Relations to Stockholm
“Fundamental labour legislation is a cornerstone of all countries’ labour markets, despite the fact that in certain respects it is designed differently in different EU countries. We should maintain this system.”
The Minister for Employment then described the Presidency’s priorities during the Swedish Presidency of the EU.
“It may perhaps not come as a particular surprise that the overall priorities deal with the economy, the labour market and our climate – three enormous challenges.”
After this, he gave a brief account of various directives that are in the pipeline, of the ministerial meeting on the theme of labour market inclusion that will take place in Jönköping on 8–9 July, and a high-level conference on the same theme due to be held in Stockholm on 26–27 October.
“I hope that your meeting tomorrow will be fruitful, and I look forward to learning about the results of your talks,” concluded Mr Littorin.
