Europese Commissie keurt gezamenlijk zeggenschap over Cederroth International AB door CapMan en Litorina goed (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Europese Commissie (EC) i, gepubliceerd op woensdag 30 juli 2008.

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the proposed acquisition of Cederroth by the private equity funds CapMan and Litorina. All three are Swedish companies with overlapping activities in personal care products. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition within the European Economic Area (EEA) or a substantial part of it.

The activities of Cederroth and of CapMan (the latter through two of its portfolio companies Lumene and Farmos) overlap in the market for personal care products, in particular in the markets for body lotion, lip balm, liquid hand soap and nail polish remover in Finland sold through general food trade stores, non-food and discount retailers, pharmacies and special trade stores.

The Commission's market investigation showed that the merged entity would still face strong competition from effective international manufacturers and would also continue to face competitive constraints exercised by private label products, notably in the market for nail polish removers. Overall, the Commission concluded that the combination of Cederroth and CapMan's brands would not give rise to competition concerns.
