Europese Commissie installeert nieuwe Directeur van Vertegenwoordiging in Finland (en)
The Commission has appointed a new Head of Representation, Mr. Eikka Kosonen, for Finland.
Representations are the official voice of the European Commission in the Member States. They are responsible for explaining policies of the European Union and making Europe more understandable to people.
They provide information about the EU through recognised outlets such as public libraries, business advice centres and education services.
Their responsibilities also include providing information to the Commission on orientations and trends of public opinion in the country concerned.
After having served in the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with responsibilities in the negotiation for the Finnish accession to the European Union, from 2002 Mr. Kosonen has held the position of Ambassador- Permanent Representative in the Finnish Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels. He will take up his duties as Head of Representation of the European Commission in Finland on 1st of July 2008.
