Woensdag 29 mei 2007 ontmoet Europees driemanschap Japan (en)

Next Tuesday evening (29 May), in Berlin, the European Union Troika will meet a delegation from Japan for consultations following the ASEM Foreign Ministers Meeting in Hamburg.

They will discuss EU-Japan relations, as well as regional and current international issues.

The Japanese delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Taro Aso, and that of the EU by Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The other Troika members are the EU Commissioner for External Relations and the European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana. The State Secretary at the Ministry for European Affairs, Manuel Lobo Antunes, will take part in the talks on behalf of the subsequent Portuguese Council Presidency.

The meeting will take place following the 8th ASEM Foreign Ministers Meeting, which from 28 to 29 May will bring together 46 foreign ministerial delegations from Asia and the EU Member States.
