Kroes ontmoet Lakshmi Mittal na vijandig overnamebod Mittal op Arcelor (en)

European Commissioner for Competition Neelie Kroes i met Lakshmi N. Mittal, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Mittal Steel, at the Commission's Brussels headquarters on 1st February 2006. Mr Mittal outlined his plans to launch a takeover bid for Arcelor.

Commissioner Kroes explained that the planned concentration would probably have to be notified to the Commission under the EU Merger Regulation. Once it has been notified, the Commission will assess whether there is likely to be any adverse impact on effective competition within the EU's Single Market.
