Juridische stappen tegen Italië en Verenigd-Koninkrijk wegens niet-omzetten EU-richtlijnen inzake opleiding voor schippers in nationale wetgeving (en)

maandag 19 december 2005

The Commission has decided to send reasoned opinions, the final step before a possible referral to the Court of Justice, to Italy and the United Kingdom for failure to transpose European rules on the minimum level of training of seafarers into national law.

The relevant Directive[1] concerns minimum standards of training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers serving on board European Community vessels. Its purpose is to improve the procedure for recognition of certificates issued by third countries supplying crewmembers for vessels flying the flag of a Member State.

Member States had until 14 May 2005 to transpose the Directive.
