Raad van Europa stuurt waarnemers naar gemeenteraadsverkiezingen Transnistrië (en)

Strasbourg, 06.12.2005 - The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will be observing the local elections in Chisinau (Moldova) on Sunday 11 December 2005. The previous elections, held on 27 November, were declared invalid due to low turnout of voters.

The Congress delegation will comprise Omür Aybar (Turkey, EPP/CD) and David Lloyd-Williams (United Kingdom, ILDG).

Before the poll, the European representatives will meet with Marian Lupu, Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and several of the election candidates.

A press conference is scheduled on Monday 12 December at 12 noon, in the offices of the Special Representative of the Council of Europe in Chisinau.
