Raad van Europa inventariseert mensenrechten in Liechtenstein en Kroatië (en)
Strasbourg, 04.05.2005 - The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe today presented to the Committee of Ministers his reports on the respect for human rights in Croatia and Liechtenstein. The reports have been forwarded to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for future debate. They are now public and available on the Commissioner's website www.commissioner.coe.int .
The Commissioner's report on Croatia, following his visit in June last year, addresses in particular the large backlog of judicial cases, the return of refugees, prison conditions, the issue of missing persons, and the situation of the Roma.
The report on Liechtenstein, following the Commissioner's visit in December 2004, focuses on the rights of foreigners in Liechtenstein, trafficking in human beings, the functioning of the judiciary and the police.
The reports conclude with recommendations to the authorities of both countries.
