Hungarian farmers will be able to access SAPARD funds before the end of the year, Minister of Agriculture Imre Nemeth said, according to the MTI. Hungary is the last country which still attempts to initiate the special pre-accession fund, alleged for agriculture reconstruction and development of rural areas.

Hungarian institutions authorised to manage the SAPARD (Special Accession Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development) programme have been nationally accredited and can now call for bids. Farmers will be bidding for SAPARD resources in three areas: farm investments, boosting the processing and marketing of farm and fishery products, and infrastructure improvements.

"Hungary will be receiving EUR 38m a year from the European Union in SAPARD resources to support these goals," Mr Nemeth said.
