Videoconference of EU employment and social policy ministers: Employee participation and gender equality are on Tuesday's agenda
On 13 October, German Labour Minister Hubertus Heil, German Minister of Social Affairs Franziska Giffey and their European counterparts will discuss measures to support workers and why gender equality in the labour market is now especially important.
German Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Heil and German Minister for Family Affairs Giffey will chair the virtual meeting of employment and social policy ministers on 13 October. The meeting will focus on the participation and support of workers in cases of restructuring and on gender equality in the labour market.
In the morning, ministers will discuss how to strengthen employee participation, information and transparency during this trying economic situation and how to provide affected workers with the necessary assistance in terms of upskilling and continuing education and training.
The afternoon will be devoted to gender equality in the labour market. The pandemic has highlighted the problem of unequal distribution of paid work and unpaid household duties between the genders. The ministers will discuss how gender equality can be promoted in concrete terms.
