“We need a European solution”: Informal videoconference of the employment and social affairs ministers

On 17 July, Germany's Labour Minister Hubertus Heil will host a videoconference for EU i employment and social policy ministers, Nicolas Schmit i, the EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, and high-ranking representatives of Europe’s social partners.

Joint fight against the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic in Europe

For the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the video conference will mark the beginning of Germany's Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).

Under the heading “The social dimension of Europe’s recovery”, participants will discuss the contribution of labour-market and social policies to a recovery from the consequences of the corona pandemic for societies, social welfare and economies.

Federal Labour Minister Hubertus Heil stated:

Because of the corona pandemic everything is different this year, but I am still looking forward to our joint video conference. It is clear: We need a European solution to a crisis that is as sweeping as the corona pandemic. We are all in the same boat.
