Minister Grlić Radman at videoconference of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in the development configuration
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated in a videoconference of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union in the development configuration. Five sets of Council conclusions have been adopted, which have been agreed during the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU i.
Minister Grlić Radman commented in detail on two sets of conclusions: on the support to youth in external action and on the concrete implementation of “Team Europe”.
“I am delighted that one of the priorities of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the area of international development and humanitarian policy has been recognised. This refers to political, economic and social empowerment of youth, and their active role in the development of partner countries,” stated the Minister commenting the first set of conclusions and added that Croatia implemented the set policies of the Council and achieved the planned priorities of the Croatian Presidency in this domain.
Minister Grlić Radman welcomed the implementation of the latter set of conclusions on “Team Europe”, an innovative platform which the European Union intends to use to help partner countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasising the necessity of quick humanitarian and health support to the most threatened and strengthening the resilience of partner countries with respect to socio-economic impact of the pandemic.
The Minister also emphasised the importance of South-East Europe in the context of these conclusions. “It is important to act together, in a coordinated manner and show solidarity,” concluded the Minister.
The discussion was, apart from the Ministers, also attended by Director-General of the World Health Organization Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who presented the current situation related to the pandemic, projections and crucial needs.
