Post 2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform package

Today we made good progress in further outlining the Council position on the future CAP, but more work is needed. Setting the future course of the longest standing and most important European policy remains our top priority.

Petre Daea, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania and President of the Council

The Council had a public exchange of views on the whole CAP reform package on the basis of a presidency’s state of play report, and suggested changes to the text of all three regulations: the CAP strategic plans the horizontal and Common Market Organisation regulations. Ministers were invited to comment on these texts and provide guidance to the presidency on the next steps.

In the context of the CAP debate, ministers were also informed about coupled income support and eco-schemes.
