The Minister of Labour attended the Conference on promoting and reinforcing the EU Social Dialogue
The Minister of Labour and Social Justice, Marius Budăi, attended as representative of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Joint Conference on promoting and reinforcing the EU i social dialogue, organised by the European social partners on the 6th of February 2019, in Brussels.
At the meeting organised by the European Trade Union Confederation i (ETUC), the Confederation of European Business (BusinessEurope i), the European Centre of Employers and Enterprises providing Public Services and Services of general interest (CEEP) and the European Association of Crafts and Small and Medium‑Sized Enterprises (SMEunited), the European Commission was represented by the Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Marianne Thyssen i.
The debates focused on discussing the priorities of the 2019-2021 work programme, such as the digitalisation and the improvement of the performance of the labour markets and of the social systems. The European social partners adopted, on this occasion, the new work programme on the European Social Dialogue for 2019-2021.
“I welcome the approval of the 2019-2021 Programme which reconfirms the willingness of the European social partners to be actively involved in the management of the social dimension and of the new challenges that the labour market and the social protection systems are facing, in the context of the new forms of work and of the new skills required by digitalisation and technical development. For effective results it is essential that the European partners motivate and attract the national social partners in negotiations and in the European dialogue, so that their interests be found in the measures assumed through the European agreements and programmes and to be accepted and transposed appropriately at national level”, stated the Minister of Labour and Social Justice of Romania, Marius Budăi.

The Joint Declaration of 2016 represented an important step in assuming the sharing of economic governance and in the joint effort to strengthen the European cohesion and the social dimension of the European Union. The implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights is a priority in this respect, and the role of the social partners is an essential one in managing the changes on the labour market, in supporting the decent employment and the rights, just as important as the partnership within the future European Labour Authority (ELA) will be.
