The initiative was announced at the [email protected] conference, organised by the Bulgarian Center of Women in Technology (BCWT), in partnership with the Ministry of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.
More than 200 leaders and entrepreneurs from fifteen countries, including Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, England and the United States, gathered today at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia for the first [email protected] conference. The event aims to promote the participation of women in leadership and professional roles in the technology industry, to outline the growing role of women in the socio-economic development of the world and show the face and style of the new generation of female entrepreneurs in the digitally-based economy.
"Bulgaria is leading in Europe for women in the ICT industry, and we have decided from our country and during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU to launch a European network Women [email protected] for Europe. Our goal is to create a platform for partnership on initiatives that stimulate the female entrepreneurship and women's participation in the digital industry. To support the promotion of an environment, in which men and women contribute as per their talent and ideas for the sustainable development of the transforming digitally connected world",
said Sasha Bezunhova, founder of BCWT and MOVE.BG, at the [email protected] conference.
The Coalition Women [email protected] for Europe aims to provide more visibility for women role-models and leaders in technology and to focus on their greater participation in the digital economy. The initiative will work to encourage more girls to study engineering and technology disciplines and to develop professionally in the digital industry. Women [email protected] for Europe will also focus on empowering women at risk by enhancing their digital skills and will work to provide a supportive environment for funding of women-led start-ups.
