Poland: Civil Liberties Committee to debate rule of law

MEPs will discuss the latest developments in the EU Commission probe into the respect of the rule of law in Poland with Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans i.

The discussion will follow an announcement by the Commission, on Wednesday, of new measures to persuade Polish authorities to preserve the rule of law.

The Commission began investigating the situation in Poland under the "Framework for addressing systemic threats to the Rule of Law" on 13 January 2016. It also launched an infringement procedure on 26 July. Committee members already discussed the issue on 22 March.
