The aim of all these events is to strengthen the importance of Natura 2000 network, to mainstream biodiversity into other policies and also to show positive examples of nature and biodiversity protection in Slovakia, highligted the state secretary for environment Norbert Kurilla in his opening statement.

The exhibition was also opened by the European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, European Commissioner for environment Karmenu Vella and the Permanent Representative to the European Union Peter Javorčík.

Maroš Šefčovič: I am here to speak about interlinkages between natural capital and biodiversity protection to the agriculture, energy efficiency and climate change. One cannot live without the other.

Peter Javorčík: At this place, I promise that we will continue in our nature and biodiversity protection, not only on the national level, but also in our contribution to all international events related to nature and biodiversity.

The opening ceremony was followed by the screening of a movie Wild Slovakia. It is a very successful, attractive and pedagogical documentary about untouched wilderness of Slovak nature.

The movie author Tomáš Hulík participated in the screening and participants had a golden opportunity to table their questions.
