Notice: Informal meeting of EU ministers for energy and climate change

A joint informal meeting of EU ministers for energy and climate change will take place on Tuesday 12 July in Reduta, Bratislava. The Minister for the Economy, Peter Žiga, and the Minister for the Environment, László Sólymos, will take part in the talks. Ministers will discuss how to achieve the European Union's climate and energy goals, with a focus on sustainable financing of the transition to a low-carbon economy and a new management system for the Energy Union.

It will be followed by an informal meeting of EU energy ministers on 13 July. The first session will deal with energy prices and their impact on the competitiveness of the EU. The second panel will focus on the topic of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and underground gas storage facilities and their contribution to ensuring EU energy security.

Delegates will look at the impact of energy prices on the EU's competitiveness and ways to ensure the transition towards a low-carbon economy in a cost-effective manner. Representatives of European industry associations will have the opportunity to comment on this topic during the discussion. Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, the Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, Jerzy Buzek, and the special guest of the informal Council, Amos J. Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of the US Department of State, will take part in the discussions.

A press conference will be held after the discussions on Wednesday 13 July at 14.25 in the Press centre located in Reduta on Eugen Suchoň Square 1, Bratislava. The Minister for the Economy, Peter Žiga, European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and the Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, Jerzy Buzek, will take part in the press conference.
