Video viEUws.eu: Parliament agenda: Migration crisis, EU-Turkey, Tax rulings and Privacy Shield
Marjory van den Broeke, spokeswoman for the European Parliament unveils what is at stake for the week. Undoubtedly, the migration crisis will top the agenda. On Tuesday, President Tusk will meet President Schulz and the different political groups leaders to discuss the outcome of the EU-Turkey summit. On the same day, the AFET Committee members will assess the progress made by Turkey in terms of human rights, tackling corruption and media freedom. On Wednesday, the LIBE Committee will cast its vote on two big dossiers: on the one hand, on the Parliament’s proposal to improve EU migration policies and on the other one, on a reform of the EU Visa Code - the creation of a humanitarian visa will also be on the table.
In other news, on Monday and Tuesday, the Special Committee on Tax Ruling will be joined by representatives from multinationals (Apple, Google, IKEA and McDonalds) and jurisdictions (Monaco, Guernsey and Jersey, Andorra, etc.) to discuss taxation developments in and outside the EU. Finally, on Thursday, the LIBE Committee will debate the EU-US privacy shield. They will be joined by Commissioners Ansip and Jourova, the US lead negotiator and Giovanni Buttarelli, the European Data Protection Supervisor. Max Schrems is also said to be attending.
