Former EU Commissioner appointed Romania PM

Dacian Ciolos i, a former EU agriculture commissioner under Jose Manuel Barroso i, was Tuesday appointed prime minister of Romania by president Klaus Iohannis. Ciolos, a center-right politician like Iohannis, succeeds social-democrat Victor Ponta i, who resigned on 4 November over anti-corruption protests following a fire that killed 48 people.
