Official launch of the European Week of Sport in Brussels in the presence of the Minister of Sport, Romain Schneider
Within the framework of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Minister of Sport, Romain Schneider, attended the official launch of the first European Week of Sport on 7 September 2015 in Brussels alongside the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics i, and Santiago Fisas, Member of the European Parliament, both behind this new initiative in the field of sport taking place in no less than 31 European countries structured to include some 2000 events.
The European Week of Sport aims to raise awareness and make information available to European citizens about the general lack of physical activity and to encourage participation in physical activity and/or sport during this European Week of Sport. In addition, it also seeks to encourage European citizens to be more physically active and to contribute to reduce the 42 % rate of European adults who never or seldom exercise or play sport.
