Met dank overgenomen van Comité van de Regio's (CvdR) i, gepubliceerd op dinsdag 28 april 2015.

A collaborative EU conference will be hosted to celebrate the Green Infrastructure strategy, adopted by the Commission in 2013, and the institutions renewed commitment to it.

The event, which will be co-organised by the Commission, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in cooperation with the European Parliament's Urban Intergroup and its Intergroup on Climate Change, Biodiversity & Sustainable Development, will be attended by Commissioner Karmenu Vella i; who will present the progress of the Commission's Green Infrastructure strategy.

Also in attendance will be committee members, policy makers, businesses, civil society and authorities, who will be invited to share their views and exchange best practices.

The event will provide a timely opportunity to highlight the contribution of Green Infrastructure to Europe 2020 and acknowledge how local and regional authorities can boost the social, economic and environmental benefits through Green Infrastructure to European citizens, including through participative planning processes.

"Green Infrastructure: A European success story" will take place on May 5 2015 from 14.30 to 17.30 at the Jacques Delors Building on Rue Belliard 99-101 , Brussels and will also be live streamed on the EESC website.

Green Infrastructure helps to deliver a range of benefits to ecosystems and people, for health and quality of life; and is key to driving jobs and growth, while tackling environmental challenges.
