Romanian parliament scraps controversial law

The Romanian Parliament on Tuesday voted against an amnesty law which would have freed all convicted criminals serving up to 7 years in jail, after newly elected President Klaus Iohannis asked the government to repel the bill. The parliament also lifted the immunity of several MPs it had shielded.
