France's centre-right party saddled with debt

France's centre-right UMP party is €80 million in debt, reports Mediapart. Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy i is seeking to take over the party's leadership in the autumn. Sarkozy is under formal investigation over allegations he accepted illicit funds to finance his two previous presidential campaigns.
