Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem i will attend the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 January. The theme of this year’s meeting is 'The Reshaping of the World: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business.'

Eurogroup President Dijsselbloem is looking forward to exchanging views with politicians and business leaders from all over the world on the economic challenges for the world and the euro area. On Saturday he will take part in the panel discussion 'Rebuilding Banking in Europe', which will be webcasted live.

In particular Mr Dijsselbloem will highlight the measures the euro area has taken to safeguard the euro and to boost its growth potential. European experience has shown that growth can go hand in hand with promoting equality. "The modest return of growth in the eurozone i is a sign that our recovery and growth strategy is on the right track. Our next priorities should be pushing through structural reform and the swift implementation of the European banking union", said President Dijsselbloem.

The banking union will radically reduce risks for sovereigns and taxpayers, and strengthen the financial sector. Strong banks are vital for growth in the Eurozone through their credit supply to companies.
