The European Parliament Thursday backed the appointment of Germany's Sabine Lautenschläger to the ECB's executive board. MEPs have campaigned since 2012 to have a woman on the all-male board. Lautenschlaeger is currently a vice-president in charge of overseeing credit institutions at the German central bank. She replaces Joerg Asmussen.
