Conferentie: 'De weg naar groei: business-vriendelijk openbaar bestuur' (en)
Entrepreneurs and policy makers will equally benefit from an October conference aimed at improving public administration to better serve businesses. The conference will be hosted by Vice President Antonio Tajani
A well-functioning public sector is essential for the wellbeing of industry and enterprises. Smart administration offers better, more targeted and faster delivery of services to businesses and citizens. Companies can particularly benefit from reduction of time and costs, faster responses and better support of public administration. And all this is particularly important in the context of recovering from the on-going economic crisis.
To help public administrations across Europe become more effective in supporting industry and enterprises, Vice President Antonio Tajani, will be hosting a high-level conference in Brussels at the end of October. The goal of the conference, The Path to Growth: Achieving Excellence in Business Friendly Public Administration, will be to identify key difficulties experienced by industry in dealing with public administrations and to exchange ideas and experiences of how such difficulties can be overcome.
Participants
The Conference will bring together key players, namely ministers, policy makers, industry leaders and policy advisers to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing European public administration. It will provide a forum in which to exchange fresh and innovative thinking and good practices on how to make public administrations more business-friendly.
Background
This initiative is part of the EU's growth strategy, EUROPE 2020, which stresses that, amongst other things, an efficient, effective and transparent public administration is one of the key factors in driving competitiveness in today's economy. To achieve this, important reforms enabling more strategic, effective and forward looking public administrations across the EU are needed.
The program
The conference will consist of two panel discussions in the morning and useful workshops in the afternoon. The morning sessions will discuss EU Member States' efforts at strengthening governance and institutions as well as expectations of enterprises from modern public administrations. In the afternoon, there will be three parallel workshops presenting good practices and identifying solutions on three main topics, namely reducing administrative burdens and improving regulatory quality; exploiting the potential of information and communication technologies in building smart and innovative government; and promoting strategic management in government.
Where and when?
The conference will take place on Tuesday October 29th 2013, from 8:45 - 17:00 at the European Commission, Charlemagne building (GASP Room), Rue de la Loi 170, B-1000 Brussels.
