Europese Commissie maakt prijswinnaars generations@school bekend (en)
In recognition of the European Day of Solidarity between Generations, the European Commission launched on April 29th the generations@school project and competition. The initiative, organised as part of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, focused on bringing students and older people together to engage in conversation about what it means to get older and how older and younger people can collaborate for a better life for all.
From April to June all schools in Europe were invited to open the doors of their classrooms to older people to create a venue for dialogue and break down intergenerational stereotypes. Schools hosted a variety of events, including discussions between the older people and the pupils, games, and artistic activities like drawing, theatre, music, handcraft activities, etc.
The European Commission also invited schools to participate in a competition in order to discover the best generations@school projects. From March 1st to June 30th, participants (a class or a school) could upload images, drawings, testimonies and stories of their experience on the dedicated section of the project’s website.
The most creative and innovative generations@school project from each Member State have been honoured with an award.
