"The European Central Bank now has a member on its highest board without a democratically established mandate," British MEP Sharon Bowles i,who chairs the economics committee, said after EU leaders Thursday appointed Yves Mersch to the ECB board. The Parliament had objected to the appointment on gender-balance grounds.
