A group of Romanians managed to take non-formal education to the country with one of the most rigid education systems in the world: China. Through the European Voluntary Service, the 11 young people had the mission to apply non-formal education methods that can overcome the language barrier. 'Volunteers across frontiers' is a project developed as a part of the European Voluntary Service, in the context of the EU-China year. The project is developed with the support of the European Union Programme 'Youth in Action' and it is one of the first of the kind in the European space. The Romanian partners of the project were the Assistance Center for Durable Human Resources Development and the associations Chance for Life Romania and the Students' Organisation in Arad.
