EU roept FARC op gevangen Franse journalist vrij te laten (en)

The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton i, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

"The High Representative calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Mr Langlois

The FARC only weeks ago had announced it would forego hostage-taking as a means to gain income or political leverage. This stated intention had been welcomed by the High Representative at the time. The case of Mr Langlois, a civilian, now constitutes a test for their sincerity in this regard

The High Representative reiterates her call for the FARC to finally heed the demand of the Colombian people for a sustainable peace in the country, democracy and full respect for human rights."
