Politici verlangen betere Europese coördinatie integratie migranten in steden (en)

Meeting in Amsterdam in March 2012, politicians from 13 of Europe's biggest cities launched the Amsterdam Statement, encouraging governments of all member states, regions and cities to work constructively together to make integration work in Europe.

This should be done in ways that truly respects the dignity of all human beings as defined in the European Common Basic Principles of Integration.

“We cannot fulfil our responsibility for creating inclusive cities without appropriate political and financial support from national governments and the European Union” read the statement released by by Andrée Van Es i, Deputy Mayor of Amsterdam. The statement was endorsed by Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan i and politicians from 12 other cities, namely: Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Madrid, Milan, Nantes, Rennes, Riga, Rotterdam, Tampere and Toulouse.
