Met dank overgenomen van Directoraat-generaal Regionaal beleid en Stadsontwikkeling (REGIO) i, gepubliceerd op woensdag 14 september 2011.

Participants in the 13 transnational cooperation programmes running under the ‘European Territorial Cooperation’ objective of EU Cohesion Policy will come together for the first time in Katowice, Poland on 15-16 September, and share their experiences, lessons learnt and best practices with with EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn and Polish Minister for Regional Development, Elzbieta Bienkowska, amongst many other high-level representatives in EU Cohesion Policy.

The 600+ participants will have the chance to discuss the future of transnational cooperation, and inform policy-makers of the benefits they have seen in their own regions - in areas where other policies and levels of governance have not reached, and where the general quality of life has been improved.

The conference will last for two half-days and will focus on key themes and areas for action corresponding to the Europe 2020 objectives, such as:

  • Transport
  • Environmental Risk Management
  • Innovation
  • Energy
  • Demographic Change
  • Enlargement and cooperation with our neighbours
