Overeenstemming over tekst toetredingsverdrag Kroatië (en)

At today’s meeting, the COREPER II i has reached an agreement on the text of the Accession Treaty with Croatia. This has finalized a nearly two-year period of drafting the Accession Treaty with Croatia.

Croatia applied for the EU membership in 2003. The negotiations begun in October 2005 together with the screening process. Croatia finished accession negotiations on 30 June 2011 under the Hungarian Presidency. Today’s decision will be followed by the opinion of the European Commission and consent of the European Parliament and final decision of the Council.

The Accession Treaty will be signed in December 2011. Croatia will join the European Union on 1 July 2013 after the ratification process being concluded in all Member States and Croatia.
