This Thursday, at the opening of the Conference on Women Executives 2.0, the First Vice-President of the Spanish Government, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, stressed that equality is 'even more necessary' in times of crisis, while regretting that women still have 'serious difficulties' in accessing executive positions.
The aim of the conference, which is taking place this Thursday in Barcelona and is framed within the Spanish Presidency of the EU, is to improve the way organisations are run and facilitate the promotion of women executives, incorporating equal opportunities, 2.0 applications and information and communication technologies.
More than a thousand women experts in communication, leadership and information technologies applied to business and the professions, took part in this event at which the First Vice-President of the Spanish Government expressed her belief that women who are beginning to study or work today 'will not tell those stories of dreams frustrated by arbitrariness or unfairness, which we have so often heard and so often known'.
The event included statements from women who, on account of their political leadership, society holds in high regard, such as the former President of Chile, Michelle Bacellet; in a recorded message, she encouraged women to fight to achieve positions of responsibility. 'We are capable of dialogue and empathy, because we know how to put ourselves in other people's shoes,' she underlined.
