This document [06/10 CIG 3/03 Declaration of Rome] deals with 6 points adopted by the participants in the Intergovernmental Conference.

The most substantial points (numbers 3 and 4) make a commitment to conclude the negotiations on the basis of the Convention's draft Treaty well in advance of the elections to the European Parliament in June 2004.

The four other points are of more declarational character, stating the importance of the enlargement of the Union, the continuation of the European integration process and the foresight of people establishing the Union after the Second World War.
