Energy and telecommunications ministers meet in Brussels
On Thursday, 2 December, energy ministers will meet for the first day of the Transport i, Telecommunications and Energy Council meeting, chaired by the Minister of Infrastructure Jernej Vrtovec. On the second day, 3 December, telecommunications ministers will meet under the chairmanship of the Minister of Public Administration Boštjan Koritnik and the Minister of Digital Transformation Mark Boris Andrijanič.
Energy ministers once again on high energy prices
The energy ministers' discussions will include the report of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators in relation to developments on wholesale electricity markets. In the afternoon, a discussion on the progress of the "Fit for 55" legislative package will take place, with a focus on the Renewable Energy Directive and Energy Efficiency Directive.
Before the meeting, the Energy Council Chair Jernej Vrtovec said: "The debate on energy prices will reveal EU i member state experiences with different mechanisms to mitigate the impact of high energy prices on end consumers and will also focus on a more long-term perspective. Talks will also be held on the preliminary report of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators on the current wholesale electricity market design and the possible reasons for the fluctuation of prices."

Telecommunications ministers on data economy and digital rights
The second day of the meeting will focus on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union, data governance, roaming on public mobile communications networks within the Union, artificial intelligence, a framework for a European Digital Identity and ePrivacy.
Ministers will also hold a policy debate on data economy and digital rights and principles in the context of the Europe’s Digital Decade 2030. The first discussion will be led by Minister of Public Administration Boštjan Koritnik, and the second by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mark Boris Andrijanič. Ministers will also be informed of the outcome of the meeting of the ministerial group of digitally advanced EU countries, the D9+ Group, which took place in Luxembourg on 27 October 2021.
