Committee to promote implementation of interregional cooperation programme in Riga
On Tuesday 10 March, Latvia as the presiding country of the Council of the European Union will chair the first Monitoring Committee meeting of the new Interregional Cooperation Programme URBACT III i for 2014-2020 (hereafter - URBACT III i) in order to launch the first call for applications already this year.
The aim of the meeting is to agree on application pack (including Programme Manual) and schedule for the first call for proposals in 2015, as well as to approve URBACT III Technical Assistance budget for 2015 and concept for URBACT National Dissemination Points.
At the same time, the Monitoring Committee meeting of the Urban Development Programme URBACT II i 2007-2013 takes place in Riga on 9 March. It aims to discuss the progress of URBACT II i implementation and to agree on necessary actions in order to successfully close the planning period of 2007-2013.
During the meetings the Latvian Presidency will prepare and hold a strategic discussion to reach an agreement between the EU Member States and the partner countries - Switzerland and Norway.
URBACT is part of the European Territorial Cooperation programme which covers territories of the EU, Norway and Switzerland. URBACT aims to promote cooperation and exchange of experience among cities to find common solutions to urban challenges. It is an instrument of the EU Cohesion Policy.
