Eurojust National Correspondents meet in The Hague
28 November 2014
The 2nd Meeting of National Correspondents for Eurojust took place on 27 November at Eurojust’s premises in The Hague.
The National Correspondents for Eurojust are appointed by the Member States to facilitate the activities of Eurojust and act as an important bridge between Eurojust and national practitioners. They are also responsible for the functioning of the Eurojust National Coordination System (ENCS), which is established in the Member States to facilitate the carrying out of the tasks of Eurojust.
Opened by Eurojust’s President, Ms Michèle Coninsx, the meeting covered a number of topics of major relevance for the efficient functioning of Eurojust.
Mr Francisco Jiménez-Villarejo, Vice-President of Eurojust, chaired the morning session, which addressed the question of ‘What Eurojust can offer.’ The highlight of the morning was the launch of Eurojust’s Extranet, a restricted area on Eurojust’s website for National Correspondents which includes various documents of relevance to the work of practitioners. Following this, a presentation was given to outline updates to the Fiches Suédoises, a specific information tool about the ENCS. The Fiches Suédoises provide an overview of the structure and functioning of the ENCS per Member State and are kept up-to-date by Eurojust. Methods of improving the transmission of information and feedback were also discussed.
The afternoon session was chaired by Mr Ladislav Hamran, Vice-President of Eurojust. This session addressed the topic of the exchanging of information and secure connections to Eurojust’s Case Management System (CMS) and access to the CMS by ENCS members.
