The Italian Presidency works on an ‘Industrial compact’ to revamp the sector
The Italian Presidency is preparing a document with guidelines for the Industrial Compact implementation, the strategy for revitalising European industry and through which the manufacturing sector should reach 20% of GDP by 2020. This was stated by the Italian Economic Development Minister, Federica Guidi, at the end of the first day of the Informal meeting on Competitiveness, which focused on the future of the European Union industry and took place on 21 July in Milan.
The Ministry for Economic Development is setting up a task force, in cooperation with other Ministries, for the development of a document - declared the Minister - which will be completed by the end of this year. European Industry and Research Ministers will meet again on 25 and 26 September and on 4 and 5 December at the Competitiveness Councils.
