The Hague, 16 April 2014

Eurojust is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Kamen Mihov as the National Member for Bulgaria at Eurojust. In accordance with Article 2(1) of the Eurojust Decision, the appointment was approved by the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union. Mr Mihov officially took up his duties at Eurojust on 12 February.

Mr Mihov has considerable international experience and has been a prosecutor for many years: he was the Head of the International Department at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office of Bulgaria for seven years and, in addition to his position as National Member for Bulgaria at Eurojust, is currently the Deputy Prosecutor General of Bulgaria to the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor’s Office.

He has been the national correspondent for Eurojust and the national coordinator at the National Network of Prosecutors in Bulgaria dealing with criminal cases in an international context and is the contact point for Bulgaria at the European Judicial Network. Mr Mihov obtained a Master’s degree in Law at Sofia University and, in 2008, an additional Master’s degree in International Relations and European Law at Sofia University and the universities of Strasbourg and Nancy in France.

Following his appointment, Mr Mihov said: ‘It is an honour to be selected to become the National Member for Bulgaria at Eurojust. The Bulgarian Desk contributes significantly to the success of Eurojust; in 2013, the Bulgarian Desk registered 65 bilateral and five multilateral cases, clearly demonstrating that Bulgaria is an active partner in the fight against serious cross-border crime. I am certain that my international experience will complement Eurojust’s efforts in this fight.’
