EP President Martin Schulz to travel to Slovenia

The President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz i will pay an official visit to the Republic of Slovenia from Thursday 13 March until Friday 14 March.

On Thursday 13 March at 17.40, President Schulz will meet Janko Verber, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. The meeting will be followed by an official dinner.

On Friday 14 March, President Schulz will meet at 9.10 with Alenka Bratušek i, Prime Minister of Slovenia. Following the meeting, at 10.00, President Schulz will deliver a formal address to the Deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. President Schulz will conclude this address with a brief press point. He will then meet with Members of the opposition.

At 11.40, President Schulz will meet with Borut Pahor i, President of Slovenia.

His official visit will be concluded by a meeting with students and discussion on European issues, at 14.00 in the European Parliament’s Information Office in Ljubljana.

Ahead of the visit, EP President Martin Schulz stated:

"Almost ten years after Slovenia joined the European Union, it's an honour for me to be here to reflect on the benefits of Slovenia's membership of the European Union, on the path we have walked together and that which still lies ahead. Slovenia is on the road of recovery and I want to express my solidarity with the Slovenian people on this important anniversary."
