IAEA Director General meets with the HR/VP in Munich and visits EU in Brussels

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano met with the HR/VP in Munich in the margins of the Munich Security Conference.
They discussed the way forward in the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear file and the respective roles of the E3+3 and IAEA in this process. They also touched upon broader issues of EU-IAEA cooperation.
During his subsequent official visit to Brussels, on 3 and 4 February 2014, Director General Amano held a series of high-level meetings with other officials of the European Union (EU) and with Belgium authorities. He discussed i.a. with H.E. Mr. José Manuel Barroso i, President of the European Commission and expressed his appreciation for the continuous support that the IAEA receives from the EU, including financial contributions.
Director General Amano also met Mr. Günther Oettinger i, Commissioner for Energy, other Senior officials of the European Commission and the EEAS as well as the Ambassadors of the Council's Political and Security Committee.
While in Brussels, Director General Amano held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Didier J.L. Reynders, Deputy Prime minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, and addressed the broader public during a lecture at the Royal Egmont Institute.
