Litouwse ministers gaan Europees Parlement af om prioriteiten voorzitterschap te presenteren (en)
On 8 - 11 July in Brussels, Lithuanian cabinet ministers will give a comprehensive presentation of Lithuania’s Presidency programme to the members of the European Parliament, which will mainly focus on the creation of a reliable, open, and growing Europe. These presentations will seek to initiate discussions with the members of the committees of the European Parliament on the key tasks Lithuania has set out to accomplish during its Presidency of the Council of the EU in cooperation with its legislative partner - the European Parliament.
As has become traditional, at the start of a country’s presidency its cabinet ministers present priorities in the area they oversee in the respective committees of the European Parliament. They also present committee members with results of the implementation of the presidency programme once the presidency period has concluded. Ministers can also be invited to attend committee sessions and express opinions on issues important to MEPs during the presidency period.
Representing the Council of the EU in the European Parliament is one of the key responsibilities of a presidency-holding country.
