Programme of visits to EU capitals starts with the incoming EU Presidency, Lithuania
The Taoiseach (Prime Minister of Ireland) Enda Kenny i starts a number of visits to EU capitals, beginning with Lithuania and Latvia. Lithuania assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2013. In Lithuania today the Taoiseach is meeting President Dalia Grybauskaite i and Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius, to discuss the progress being made by Ireland’s Presidency and the forthcoming Lithuanian Presidency i.
In Latvia, the Taoiseach is meeting Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis i and is calling on President Andris Berzinš. The primary focus of the meeting with PM Dombrovskis will be Latvia’s impending accession to the eurozone i.
Tomorrow (Friday), the Taoiseach will be in Finland where he will first meet with President Sauli Niinisto at his official residence, where discussion will focus on external relations. Over a working lunch, the Taoiseach will meet Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen i for a discussion on the outstanding ambitions of our Presidency and a look ahead to the June European Council. Later in the day the Taoiseach will address the 4th Annual Economic Ideas Forum.
