Lancering proefproject over de economie van de culturele diversiteit (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Directoraat-generaal Onderwijs, jeugd, sport en cultuur (EAC) i, gepubliceerd op dinsdag 15 januari 2013.

At the prompting of the EP i, an EU funded project launched in January 2013 will test new ways of financing, producing or disseminating cultural content through ICT technologies.

The project is led by Peaceful Fish Productions Ltd. together with MfG Baden Württemberg Public Innovation Agency for ICT and Media and Kennisland. The project should contribute to facilitating access to culture (including cultural heritage) and culture literacy via online devices and should promote cultural diversity in the digital environment.

The digital shift is bringing about massive changes in the way cultural goods are created, managed, accessed, consumed, and monetised. Value chains are evolving, and cultural operators should develop strategies based on new business models, which take advantage of digital technologies.

To feed reflection on these new processes, the European Commission will select and promote between 10 and 15 new and, as yet, untested ideas as to how to make innovative use of ICT based technologies in order to finance, produce, make available, disseminate and/or extract value from cultural content. The selection of these ideas will take place in the second half of 2013.
