Deze week in het EP: begrotingsregels, jaarcijfers EEAS en voorbereidingen plenaire sessie (en)
MEPs will this week discuss budgetary rules with eurozone chief Jean-Claude Juncker i and the 2011 accounts of the European External Action Service (EEAS) with the EU's foreign policy representative Catherine Asthton. i They will also participate in meetings of their political groups and committees in preparation of next week's plenary session.
Mr Juncker will appear in front of the economic and monetary committee on Thursday to talk about the new provisions for economic dialogue between member states and Parliament that will enable MEPs to hold national governments to account when they break EU rules. Meanwhile Ms Ashton will that same day answer questions from the budgetary control committee on the EEAS's accounts for 2011.
Meanwhile EP's internal market and consumer protection committee will meet on Thursday to discuss the recognition of professional qualifications, insurance mediation, concession contracts and key information documents for investment products. That same day there will also be a meeting of the civil liberties committee, that will discuss processing personal data and other issues.
On Wednesday there will be a press conference dedicated to data protection.
MEPs will also be getting ready for next week's plenary session in Strasbourg. During plenary they will discuss minimum standards for the reception of asylum seekers, credit rating agencies, banking union and a youth guarantee, offering every young EU citizen the chance to work, study or train. They will also evaluate the Cypriot presidency that just finished and look ahead at what the new Irish presidency will be looking to achieve in the first half of 2013.
