Jaarlijkse conferentie over duurzame stedelijke ontwikkeling in Kopenhagen (en)
Copenhagen is this year hosting the annual conference of URBACT - the European exchange and learning programme of European cities promoting sustainable urban development. URBACT is an EU initiative involving 300 cities - and nearly two-thirds of Europe's capitals - to build networks, exchange information and to provide concrete help in setting up EU-funded projects. This year's conference springs from a study commissioned by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, "Cities of Tomorrow". The conference will discuss priority issues in the urban context such as new job opportunities, social innovation, urban transport, mobility and energy efficiency.
EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn i will attend the conference and make the case for a new approach to urban policy and communities, calling for "A new, more prominent role for EU Urban Policy" in 2014-2020.
