Voorlopig geen financiële problemen Erasmusfonds (en)

There has been a lot of media coverage over the past few days about the Erasmus i programme running out of money towards the end of 2012.

While it is true that there is currently a shortage of funds in the EU i budget, Erasmus students who go abroad during the first semester 2012-2013 should not have problems receiving funds for their studies and placements abroad. The National Agencies responsible for the Lifelong Learning Programme have received enough funds from the European Commission to cover their grants.

The European Commission is keeping in regular touch with the National Agencies to try to minimise the impact of the current shortage. In the meantime, the European Commission is working with the Budgetary Authority (the European Parliament and national Governments) to make sure it recognises the importance of the Erasmus programme and rapidly agrees to additional funding for this highly valuable and popular European student mobility programme.

The European Commission will come back with more news on this issue as it develops. In the meantime, don't hesitate to apply for an Erasmus exchange - it might just change your life!
