Project van de week 'PLUM': hoe regionaal beleid bijdraagt aan innovatie en succes in een Poolse onderneming (en)
The PLUM Company is a 20 years old company located in Ignatki near Białystok in the Podlaskie region, providing industrial electronics solutions for the gas, heating and waterwork systems industry.
The company specializes in the development of innovative measurement and control devices, which work in accordance with industry standards in Poland and other European countries. It uses EU financial support to develop innovative projects successfully and in this regard it will be presented to Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn i on 4th October as one best practise example in the Podlaskie region.
The latest project, which benefited from an EU financing of around EUR 600,000 was implemented in October 2011. The project aimed to expand the company's production of heating technology controllers as well as to increase the production capacity of the firm by building a new production plant. The investment therefore enabled PLUM to produce innovative heating technology controllers on a large scale, the company’s competitiveness and its technological capabilities have increased considerably and the entire production process has been modernized.
Moreover, the project enabled the company not to be dependent of one single industry, namely the natural gas industry and it has increased the flexibility of its business activities. 24 new jobs were created.
Mr Szumscy, Owner of the company PLUM, states:

Due to our bold actions and experience, we are now working in an advanced complex of professionally furnished buildings with an area of over 4 601 m2. We have a fully automated production line, equipped with modern machines of well-known companies at our disposal and we are constantly investing to further improve and develop our production and laboratories infrastructure with the support of the EU Regional Policy funds. We provide safe solutions that reduce costs and meet all the requirements of relevant standards and we offer solutions of the highest quality to all our customers with our 200 employees".
